Firebird Headlight Motors in Fiero? (Page 1/1)

Hello! So my passenger side headlight motor has kicked the bucket and I'm in need of a new one, I've heard from here and there that 82-86 Firebird motors work in the 84-86 Fiero assemblys, is this true? If so what all is needed to install one in a Fiero assembly? I'm going with a Firebird motor because I can't seem to find any 84-86 motors for sale anywhere however Repo Firebird motors can be found.

They may work, but you may have to reverse the polarity at the plug.

Don't know this for sure, if they were plug and play I would think that they would show up as a cross-reference.

That and/or change left Fiero for Right X motor because of output shaft and mounting maybe different setups.

Gen2 motors need side swaping because of that but not sure about Gen1 motors for other cars.

Some of the Firebird Gen II motors are stamped Left and Right. In this case you always take the opposite side for your Fiero needs.
After installation rub off the R&L labeling so as to not raise the curiosity of the novice troubleshooters diagnostics.
