Hi everyone - quick question. I need to replace the rear struts on my '86 GT. Being that I am, admittedly, a "mid-level/semi-skilled wrencher" at best - i'm a bit worried about tackling this job myself. In referencing the service manual, there appears to be a need for a few specialty tools (in addition to a standard spring compressor) and the procedure is a bit cryptic to follow....
Removal and re-installation of the total assembly seems simple enough, but the disassembly and re-assembly of the complete unit (mount, seat, insulator, spring, strut) is what is making me second guess myself....
Has anyone done this replacement that can give me their experiences/advise?

take the strut assemble out then take that to shop to change old to new. just call around.
Caution: New Struts don't come w/ top hat that you may need. Part can have rust problems, rubber bad or both and might not see problems until big top strut nut is removed.
