'88 GT turn signals are OK but no sounds. Where is the anunciator located? (Page 1/2) |

I have a '88 GT that has 52K miles on it and everything works except for the audio turn signal indicator. Does anyone know where the anunciator is located? It doesn't seem to be under the dash where the turn signal relay resides.

My turn signals don't have speech, either. I've noticed that some people use a hand gesture. I usually rely on the large, blinking, external lights to warn people, but perhaps a loud voice on a bullhorn would help. My '88 Fiero is not equipped with any speech features.
The Fiero has 2 relays for those lights: one by the steering column for the turn signals, and one on the courtesy center for the hazard lights. These relays should click when activated, and the applicable lights should blink. Which thing is not happening?[This message has been edited by tshark (edited 08-27-2019).]

On a Fiero, the clicking of the relay is your audible turn signal indicator.

Thank you for responding to my query about what is a clicking sound that indicates that the turn signal is activated. In my case the relays are so quiet that when either the emergency flashers or a turn signal is activated I can barely hear it over the sound of the engine/car when driven. In my '87 GT the clicking is noticeable and a good reminder that the turn signal is still activated, on the '88 GT it isn't nearly loud enough to get my attention.

The 88 probably has an electronic flasher.------------------ My World of Wheels Winners (Click on links below)

Interesting. Many people claim that the electronic flashers are louder. They are certainly more distinctive, but I certainly hear mine.

He can swap them between his 87 and his 88 to give it a try...
