New serpentine belt is driving me crazy. Stock 1985 with V-6 and AC. Either it squeals all the time or right now it squeals for about a minute, then is fine. What's the secret? [This message has been edited by RidesSubs (edited 08-28-2019).]

Mine was doing this too when it was getting wet from rain through the battery cover. I cover that cover up now when it's parked for a temporary fix, until I get Rodney's belt tensioner kit that will ultimately solve the problem (under 100 bucks). take a look at it, it gives the belt/pulley's much more surface for grab...I put a plastic clamp on the steering wheel to remind me to take the cover off before I go out with it...Oh yeah, this is for my 2.8. You didn't say what engine you have, I don't know if there is a version available for the Duke... [This message has been edited by FX (edited 08-21-2019).]

This Is Not as simple as adding tension/idle pulley for V6. Worse, Added pulleys often hind the real cause of problems.
Very Likely you have other problems making belt noise. If you have 87-88 L4 then more so or belt is wrong size even tho parts stores say X size will fit. See my Cave, Serpent Belt------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. (Jurassic Park)
