My 86 2.8 Ferrari replica started showing an intermittent check engine light the last few times I have driven it. Comes on for 10. - 30 seconds then goes off. Might happen twice in 40 minutes of driving. I have tried to pull codes, and there are none. All it shows is code 12 repeated over and over; indicating, I think, there is no problem. Just as a check, because I replaced the oxygen sensor a couple of years ago ( car only gets 1000 miles a year on it ) I pulled the plugs, and plug color is fine. Car seems to run fine, although it smells rich on startup. I do not run a thermostat here in Mexico; takes almost no time to warm up, and if my Veglia gauge is correct, it is running at 90 degrees C ( about 194 F. ) Any observations or opinions are welcomed.

When the SES light comes on briefly, the ECU is detecting an out of spec condition, but the condition does not last long enough to qualify setting a code.

Thankyou, does this mean , as long as I see no obvious signs of a problem, wait until a code shows up?
