Best rear strut for coilover conversion (Page 1/1)

I'm wanting to convert my 88 to coilovers and was wandering which strut is best for the conversion ? Going to use a 12" 300# or 275# coil, found some in yellow to match the car, also changing to a 4t60 and sd4 which will add more weight.

Anything with a 2" OD. Because the most common size for coilover sleeves is 2" ID.

Longer coils are better......

With Konis being discontinued, KYB is probably the next best/easiest.

The Monroe and AC Delco versions have an enlarged top that will have to be trimmed down to the size of the body for the sleeve to slide over.

12" springs are good, 10" springs must be "high travel" to avoid coil bind.

I once made coilovers for my Fiero, using KYB struts. They fit inside 2" coilover sleeves. So assuming their design hasn't changed in the last 10 years, the KYBs should be good to go.

Side note: You'll need to cut the spring perches off the struts, to make room. You probably already know that. But just in case...

Build info on my web site (at least how I did it)
