I previously used aluminium foil duct tape, but I didn't like it, as it wasn't flexible enough to allow the harness to bend easily without tearing the tape.
Next time I think I'll try DEI Cool Tape... something more automotive-oriented.
Off-topic, but somewhat related, for the regular black harness tape, rather than the gooey PVC electrical tape I used to use, I am going to try Tesa 51036 for my new engine harness.

Old metal tape was metal to reflect IR light for exhaust etc heating the wires. Some vendors carry it. Most do not. Try eastwood.com maybe dorman
Metal Duct tape glue isn't made to take engine bay heat. OE Black tape is Not normal electric tape and doesn't have much glue if has any glue. Kapton isn't a heat insulator but takes high heat.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.
