Duke water pump (Page 1/1)

Seems I have a bad water pump in my 88 Duke. I searched and read some of the posts. I see that the best way is to remove the pulley but I couldn't find out if the pump can be changed without moving the A/C compressor. I'm getting too old to do too much any more. It would be nice if all of the bolts could be reached just by pulling the pulley( I think there are 6 of the little buggers).

Can leave AC compressor along but some bolts for that go into or thru water pump and pump mount. 1 bolt should have a spacer that get lost. If has AC or WP worked in before that bolt and spacer is likely missing.
Missing compressor bolts can make compressor to get loose or miss align AC pulley making belt wear and noise.

Is often hard to impossible to WP pulley in the car. Many pulley press/pull kits to say what one is better then others. "Cheap" kits may work or not.

Often have to remove the whole assemble from engine side then remove pulley using pulley tool etc.

New Pump often have a pump gasket but need to find one for pump base to block.
