Replacing RAYNE/HELD/ARRAUT front 5x4.75" wheel bearing (Page 1/3)

Now that we can't get replacement parts anymore...

Has anyone tried replacing their front wheel bearings with this part:
https://www.autozone.com/su...13200/972644_0_22589

My bearings were custom and have the 5x4.75" bolt pattern.

However, I have other wheels that use 5x100 and 5x115 so if anyone has any other options to share - please do!

Not sure about this, but the last time Arraut was operating, they were affiliated with "West Shore Fabricators" in Nunica, MI......WSF is apparently still operating....Number is 616-837-0425....You might want to try contacting them.

You should remove one and look for a part # stamp and/or measure it. With the measurements and a timken catalog, you will be able to determine which bearing it was.

They used off the shelf bearings and used a bolt/nut to hold them together. I thought they used the Fiero rear wheel bearing up front.

As far as I know all the Arraut etc custom front suspension/ drop spindles used 88 Fiero rear wheel bearings. The main reason I did not buy their drop spindles was because I was afraid of not getting replacements.

All Fieros use the same rear hubs.

The Held/Arraut hubs are Fiero rear hubs with a bolt/washers/nut to replace the axle stub.

Perhaps the O/P has AWD Blazer front hubs in his application.

All the rear hubs are the same, I did not know that. So is it possible to mount a rear 88 disc on an 84-87 rear knuckle? Something must get in the way there. I have not seen that done.

Yes.
While it will slide on, there isn't a caliper or caliper bracket that would allow you to actually use it.

If it is just a matter of making a bracket to make this work, not a big deal to me. I am quite happy using the stock rear brakes on my 86 but the 88 vented rotors would be an improvement. Something I will look in to over the winter.

The vented rotor will not fit into the pre-88 caliper.

And using the 88 caliper requires it to be mounted upside down so the 84-87 parking brake cables can connect. This places the bleeder screws pointing down, so you have to remove the caliper and flip it over to bleed.
