Code 33 and 42 in my turbo 3.4 Fiero (Page 1/1) |

Code 33 MAP sensor circuit error (signal high indicating low vacuum)
Code 42 Ignition bypass circuit error
I am getting these two codes as soon as I start my Fiero. It is a 3.4 Turbo with a 7730 with a chip from Ryan. I put another MAP sensor on it, and it does the same thing. Am I using the wrong map sensor? I am using one from a 1980's turbo Sunbird.
Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you have wiring problems.
Distributor or DIS? Iron head?[This message has been edited by Will (edited 08-02-2019).]

Having something pinned incorrectly could cause one or both problems.

When I had my 7730 done and I started swapping sensors from other cars, occasionally I'd have to swap the power and ground wires on the connector. This happened when I used the TPS from an F-body. Your map sensor may have the same issue. It may be on the same circuit causing your code 42.

I got the code 33 to go away, but the code 42 is still there. Could the ignition module be bad? [This message has been edited by Madess (edited 08-17-2019).]

Always a possibility. Examine the connectors and wires too. Spark plug wires touching each other can trip a 42.

It was a bad spot in a wire. Found it and reattached it, and all is working well.
Thank you
