I just bought an 88 coupe. I've noticed that the seat doesn't go back as far as my 85 gt. Is there a difference ? If so can it be fixed ? Thanks Rick

Travel. The 85gt would go all the way till it hit the firewall. The 88 coupe stops about 1-2 inches before it gets there.

For travel:
Possible the seat was removed at one point and the rails where they attach to the seat were not installed correctly. You have to make sure the rails align correctly with each other when reinstalling. Someone can probably explain it better, but there is a wire between the two rails that unlocks the opposite side rail from the lever side. If the side that the wire controls is not aligned with the other the seat may not fully travel on the floor mounted half of the rail. There are holes in the rails allowing seat position to align with this.
While doing some seat work once, I had limited travel after install due to the above. After aligning the rails I had full and smooth travel of the seat. It took a little playing with to get it right, but it’s an easy fix once you carefully look at the rails. I think it’s as easy as putting the rails full aft, or forward, and locked into position before install of the seat.[This message has been edited by Kevin87FieroGT (edited 07-11-2019).]

That does sound like a possibility. The seats have been reupholstered by previous owner. Thanks Rick
