Temp gauge issue (Page 1/1)
randy86 JUN 18, 01:02 PM
Went on a long drive this weekend and gauge worked fine at first, stopped and got gas and when I started the car, the gauge registered less than 100 degrees and then after about 100 miles of driving the gauge was just over 100. I searched and read about a fix to this issue, but the website no longer exists, does anyone have a copy of the instructions to fix this issue?

Oh-oh. We have lost the Fierosails page that describes the 'Temp gauge fix'. That information is pretty valuable.....does anybody know if it is somewhere else?

In your particular case I think you have a bad sensor or a bad connector on the sensor. They tend to fall apart.

Here is a PDF I saved from the old site, I have attempted to get permission to host a "tribute site" to Fiero Sails, but I have never been contacted. This PDF is not my work but the property of Paul McKibben (former FieroSails.com) and hopefully he would not mind sharing information amongst PFF Members.

The easiest way to prevent Temp Gage pegging is to remove the two small diameter light green wires from the ignition switch plug and insulate the metal contact.
Or just cut them from the plug and splice the leads together.
If you want the HOT light to work with KEY ON, run a jumper from the cut wires on the plug to the wire that goes to the HOT lamp.
All the work is done under the dash, no work in the engine bay.

That is the way I did mine as "oldjoedad" stated. In the PDF file the 2 light green wires are at point "G". Slide the metal pin out of it's socket and put a piece of heat shrink tubing over the pin. You are done.
