Check engine light not working (Page 1/1)

From what Ive gathered the hot side is hot w ignition on and the ecm provides the ground on a brn/tan wire. Mines not grounding. When I ground the aldl terminals the ecm makes a light buzzing sound. Car runs and starts fine. Its an led indicator that does work, no bulb

Coolant temp indicator isnt getting groundage either but the amp gauge lit up and didnt go off when I started the car. Checked it and im only getting 12.5 v
Fried ecm?
Anybody?

Why don't you take the LED out and put in an old tech light bulb to see if the buzzing goes away.

It buzzes w anything once its shorted. Very very quiet buzz, but dont remember hearing it before. Then again ive jumped the aldl maybe twice so I might not have heard it. Had the interior in those times too.. Gonna throw a new ecm, thats what the manual says to do.

Please post how this works out for you. I have another thread on a problem with the check engine light and I'd like to know if the new computer cures it. Thanks.
