Anyone here tried a New CNS Distributor in a V-6 Fiero? What's your experience been? Does it have the new "star magnet" design like the new Cardone does?

I see the CNS brand is very inexpensively on Ebay and was thinking about getting one.

If by CNS, you mean the Cardone, then yes. They have the heavier "Star" type magnet. I put one on my 87 GT about 3 months ago, and it is great. Has quite a bit less slack than the OEM had (which only had about 1000 miles on it), but that may just be chance. The ICM that comes with them is pure crap though. Mine lasted about 35 miles. Hi no I wouldn't have contrasted the one I found to Cardone if it were a Cardone. Turns out there is a generic model floating around ebay from several sellers. CNS is the name of one of the sellers. Found another seller that had one with a picture with the cap off and it has the star magnet so I bought from him. Cost is $42 brand new. I'll report back.

I typically only buy GM modules and pickup coils. However, I do like the idea of the new star magnet design and hopefully eliminating some of the slop in my original distributor. I figure I can always swap out the insides with Delco parts. I have a brand new GM module that will we waiting in my trunk. Hopefully the pickup coil is decent. Not too concerned about the module other than hopefully it will fail somewhere convenient.

Cardone gets their distributors from a single factory on the other side of the world, and it's likely that other retail brands get their parts from the same place. If they look the same, chances are they are the same. More and more Fiero parts will be like this with low demand.

Cheap + Ebay = most are crap/Counterfeits. You might as well get car parts from aliexpress or banggood.
Can fail next week to a few months and hard to impossible to get new one under warranty if they even have a warranty. Plus you have to pay to ship back then wait to see if they ship you a new one.

Even if "true..." Cardone and AZ and a few others have a warranty and you don't go jumping thru hoops to get it honored.

I've return AZ parts years after buying "lifetime warranty" parts w/o problem w/ just the phone # at time I bought them. Last starter was 15+ years old and AZ still honor the warranty.
AZ and some others get parts same or next day w/o changing shipping cost. Unlike Pepboys tell you takes a week or more to order parts.
