Fuel injector questions (Page 1/1)

My 3800 N/A Fiero started running a bit off over time, so it got the necessary tune-up. I still had a miss when done so I turned my attention to the injectors. I found #6 laying out at the injector and since I'm pretty sure they're a bit dirty I pulled the whole rail set. I see that I have 2 different types of injectors on my engine. It's always ran good. I bought a rebuild kit off fleabay, but I'm not against buying a matching set refurbished. My lower end is a 2005 series 3, intake & stuff is series 2, but I don't know what year, 94-to maybe 97? Will the injectors that are commonly sold for 2000-2005 fit?

The injectors should all be the same. A cleaning service could probably test and swap to get a good set for you.

I thought it was cool that it ran so hard with mixed injectors. I'm going to try and rebuild a set (I have another 3800 laying around so I can get 6 that match). If I fail I'll just buy a set. I was just wondering if it mattered what year they were. There are lots of 2000-2005 injectors out there for low prices.

Very cool....but maybe it will run better! I don't think injectors changed from year to year.....

The 95-2002 fuel injectors for the 3800SC use the EV1 connector and should be the same. The 2003-2007 3800SC series III engines use injectors that have EV6 connectors. The best and easiest remedy for dirty fuel injectors is to perform an "on the rail" cleaning with OTC solvent and a suitable pressurized tank cleaning kit. This method requires no disassembly. and works well. I've found this especially beneficial for show cars that are not driven many miles.
