Things to Do While the Engine is Out (Page 1/1)

I have a creak in the rear which sure sounds to me like a failing cradle bushing. So, I am planning to drop the cradle this winter to replace all four with the aluminum bushings from RD. While I have the engine dropped, what else should I replace or modify? Here is what I am thinking:

Definitely:
Cradle bushings
Engine and transmission mounts
Port the exhaust manifolds and replace the bolts and gaskets
Engine bay insulation
Battery cables
Ground straps
Oil pressure sender (my gauge is always 80+)
Cold start injector switch (doesn't seem to be working)
Spark plugs and wires
CS130 Alternator

Maybe:
Clutch
A/C Compressor (system is already converted to R-134a)
Y pipe port or replace
Struts

...and before someone says it, no, I am not going to swap. I like my 2.8!

ItzZero: If you can find the cold start injector switch that you plan on replacing, let us all know where you found one.
Thanks,

The bushings can be replaced by dropping the cradle about 4 inchesin front, and swinging it down in the rear.
The cold start injector switch can be tested to verify function.

I would check the battery tray and if rusted wire brush it and coat it with POR15 or a similar paint over rust paint. If there is a lot of rust on the tray make sure that you check under it as well.

Check/fix the entire rear suspension.
Including tie rods if 84-87 car. Inners are pain to access in the car.
