Can a 3.35" pulley be run on a otherwise "Stock" 2000 3800SC without Other mods ?

ZZP gives an in depth list of mods suggested with different sizes of pulleys here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/zz...ions++3800+rev+c.pdf

Says you can run a 3.5 or 3.4 diameter with minimal upgrades. Any lower needs more serious mods. Can't speak from personal experience though.

Hey, Lou....this is a rather long but pretty interesting read about modding..... http://www.grandprixforums....800-powered-car.html

For what it is worth I am currently running a 3.4" pulley on what is basically a stock 3800 SC Series II. The only real changes made were larger cold air intake and exhaust piping. The tune is conservative and the vehicle dynoed at around 258 HP and 300 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels. MPG is around 25 - 26 using premium fuel with moderate driving.

This is true but to be more specific, downsizing the pulley for more boost on a series II will not have the same effect as on a series III that uses the higher efficiency series V supercharger. I tried to run a 3.4" pulley on a series III and could barely keep the KR's under complete control. Had to add an intercooler for best results.

What size exhaust you running and what kind of muffler? Interested to compare to my setup so i can get power and torque estimate. Would be tempted to go to a 3.4. Anyone around here running meth injection? Probably should go to the GTP forums for that kind of thing.

I''ve got a 3.5 cone filter, 3" pipe into a 2.5" intake pipe 1995 Trans Am muffler and 2- 2.25" exhaust pipes out of the muffler.

I made the side scoops functional and am running a K&N filter with a three inch cold air intake pipe. I believe that the exhaust piping is either 2.25 or 2.5 inches in diameter but cannot remember about the muffler, I would check this out but my car is currently in a paint shop 175 miles from here and not readily available.

Dennis,

I also have a Series III SC engine running in one of my cars. It does have a N* TV, a VS cam, and an intercooler along with Togg headers. I have not had KR issue so far but installed the IC as a part of the initial engine swap. It certainly did not hurt anything.
