1st 3D print of valve cover spacer prototype and I can't find a spare actual valve cover to test-fit it better. I know I need to make the holes bigger and add more space between them in the middle...

On second thought, I think I know where I have a spare head lying around...[This message has been edited by lou_dias (edited 05-09-2019).]

Hmmmm.
I hope this is only for mockup/fitment purposes, as FDM ABS is not quite up to the task of handling engine temperature.
Surface finish is rough; may be hard to seal. Also, there's the porosity of the 3D itself. At my work we have tried making 3D prints watertight by doing things such as layers and layers of spray paint... that did not end up working so well.
This FDM ABS is good to get the fit right, but easiest implementation of the final product would be from a CNCed sheet of aluminium.
Otherwise, there's the idea of slicing a valve cover at mid-height, and then welding in a strip of aluminium to raise the height. Or, take two pairs of valve covers; one sliced below mid-height, the other above mid-height. Weld both tall parts together to make a tall valve cover.

yes of course when it fits right I will have a full sheet of aluminum's worth CNC'd parts made. Shooting for 1/8" thickness since the lower Firebird 2.8 gasket will add additional height...

Nice job When do you need a spacer, for roller cam?

I'm using full roller rockers from Summit (1.6 ratio) and I had to use a Firebird and Fiero valve cover gasket otherwise I couldn't bolt down the valve cover without hitting the rockers. However, they leak so I'm going to use the metal spacers between the two gaskets to eliminate that problem. If I had used stock rockers from the AL heads then it would be fine but I wanted full roller rockers. The stock ones only have a roller fulcrum.

I would be interested in a set so I can install my rockers.

I will have as much as a sheet of AL can make. I'll be selling the extras for sure. Hopefully it's at least 10 pairs of which I need 2.

The 1.6 rockers will obviously give more performance but will the spaced valve covers clear the intake manifold? I would imagine it being a tight fit. You will need two gaskets to seal it and the spacer to raise it and of course longer bolts .
