COOLING FAN MOTOR question (Page 1/1)

need to change out the cooling fan (Radiator) on a my 86 swap. the motor that came out has 2 elec prongs, the new motor has just 1, I take it that the 1 needs to be Hot and the motor gets grounded ?? I "Think" the New motor is supposed to be for a '85 Ciera 2.5

I would think that the one wire would hook to the relay that activates the fan on demand (temp sensor). It evidently will ground itself when mounted, if not you'll have to run a separate ground wire from the fan mount to a known ground. The way you mentioned would run the fan continuously...

Sounds like you have the wrong motor. I guess you could ground the case but where do you pick up the conections? Why not use the right motor?

Why not use a new Proform and install it in a modified Fiero shroud?
Looks better, more air flow, less noise, less amp draw.....

I have a good used fan motor (only a few years old), if you need it.

it Is mounted in the fiero shroud. Why can't I use the 2 existing wires and run the + to the stud on the motor and the - to the case ?
I already have a brand new motor, why not use it ?

For simplicity is the only reason to use the 2 plug motor. That way you wouldn't need to modify anything. If you ground one of the wires just make sure it's a good ground.
