I used a Burn2 programmer with my 7730 setup for several years. It was pretty simple and easy to use.

Thanks for the quick reply and good to hear from you again.
I have lots of chips left over from our intake manifold & header building days. I was hoping the Moats can burn NM27c32q35 Chips?
I need to ditch the stock chip for my highly modified 2.8: whereas, it needs more timing, more fuel, EGR deletion, the rev limiter bumped up to 7.5K RPM, and because I love a rumbling exhaust, decel-lean deletion, plus other changes some to be determined on the dyno.

What's the name of the parameter that kicks in during deceleration at a certain (lowish) RPM which basically opens the IAC up a bit? I hate it when this occurs. It's like stepping on the gas a bit, which I definitely do not need while decelerating to a stop. If I was to use a custom chip with my 5-spd Formula, that's one "feature" that I'd love to eliminate.

Patrick, I've seen it referred to as "throttle follower" and "throttle decay", depending on the source.

Francis, the product page on the Moates website lists which chips it can use. ---> http://www.moates.net/burn2...-p-197.html?cPath=94

If you're using a 7730 ECM, I would suggest getting their GP1 package also. If you're still using a Fiero ECM, I don't think any of the Moates products will work with it.

Thanks Blacktree. I suspected you'd probably know.

It has been a few years and I'm using a 16141470 1993 3800 PCM. It uses the same base prom as the 7730 27c256. However, I have had a lot of success with the ST SST27sf256 E writable EEprom.(many writes without issues) Also I use one of those universal EEprom programers(Willem). I had raped a few old prom carriers to make a prom reader adapter and another I added a zif socket to install the EEproms. I took the original prom and added pins to the bottom of the carrier so I could read it with the programmer to get a base bin file. Then I used a editor like Tuner Pro to edit the bin file. I had issues with Tuner Pro's definition file.(a few glitches in the timing map) But that may only be a problem with the PCM I am using. The 7730 is a much more popular ECM.
Don't get me wrong, the Moats adapters and burner do make life much easier. Spent many hours soldering pins to make the carriers work. And I had to use trial and error to find which manufactures prom devices to read. If my memory serves me correctly, I had to use a Phillips 27c256 device code to read the stock prom. But the universal Willem programmers support a wider range of of proms to read and EEproms to write.
