Hunting shifting 86 GT 2.8, especially into reverse since repair. Was fixed last summer by po's shop. I don't know what they did to it, but welding something that was broke is suspected. It shifted fine all last summer since the repair, but not now. I'm thinking it may just need adjusting but not sure. I did find a very loose, about 1/2" x 3" bolt with the nut almost off the end of it's threads going from the rear of a bracket to front, with a washer on the inside of the bracket, not on the bolt head. no washer under nut. on the upper section that holds the shift handle in. There's a fair amount of play in the shift handle until I tighten the nut. This may be all that's wrong, but wanted to make sure. I also want to check complete shifter/cable adjustment while I'm at it...My Pontiac, Clymer, and the dreaded Haynes manuals are not very clear about the adjustments, seem to go about it in different ways. Drawings are not very clear. I'm getting little from search here... I'm trying to post pictures but to no avail. I have PIP installed, but not working. Have image in PIP but I get as far as 'connection timed out'... [This message has been edited by FX (edited 04-27-2019).]

Sorry Patrick, I thought I lost the first one trying to post pictures through PIP. [This message has been edited by FX (edited 04-28-2019).]
