Did Fiero ever come with a 3.8? (Page 1/1)

86 GT 5 speed, my VIN number has a #9 in the engine code position (no R anywhere depicting the 2.8). I always thought the stock V6 was a 2.8. Sorry maybe dumb question, but I'm relatively new to this Fiero owners group...Does anyone have specs on the 3.8. I had a hard time trying to find them. Cubic inch, horse power etc.

9 is the 2.8 V6, R is for the 2.5 4 cyl

Fieros never came with the 3.8. Any Fiero with a 3.8 had is swapped in.

FX. Welcome to the group. In what area of the country do you live?

I'm up in Tonawanda NY. Just north of Buffalo gtoformula. Car gets laid up for the winter. At 73 years young, these old bones don't get around too good anymore. I've love this car for the past ten years, when my good friend owned it. I'm an old school mechanic, and fixed what I could for him, and he let me play with it. When it came up for sale, he made me a offer I couldn't refuse. He had a reman engine put in it about 4k ago.

the 1 main thing your Back will Not like is: having to stand in the trunk and lean over the engine to work on it ! ask me how I know. LOL

Ha, Lou6t4gto, yer exactly right. Then I gotta fall into it, and fall out of it. You don't get into these cars, you put them on. I'm having shifting problems with it now, but I'll start a new thread for it...

The most popular 3800 engines for the Fiero were the L36 and the L67 Series 2 engines starting in 1995, but others fit.
