86 GT 2.8 Muncie 5 sp. There are two groves around the square screw-out dip stick, the lowest one says C the next grove about a quarter inch up says H. I believe that to mean cold/hot. Now what is perplexing is that about 2 inches above the H is the word 'Full'. Anybody know what's going on here?

"Full"... is up to the Hot or Cold line, depending on the engine/tranny temperature.

Sorry another question. Some applications including motorcycles you check the oil level by 'not' screwing the stick in. Since this Getrag has about one inch total to screw in, and it's reading about an inch over when not screwed in, it would read well over an inch when screwed in. Should I get some oil out of there, or would this be acceptable? How would you check it, in, or out?

Sounds like you've got too much oil in there no matter what.
The dipstick in my Getrag ('88 Formula) doesn't screw in, so I don't have the same issue as you. I'd say the dipstick should be seated (screwed in), but I don't know for sure.
The easiest way to deal with the oil level, is to remove the oil filler plug on the side and allow the extra oil to drain out.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 04-18-2019).]

I will do that tomorrow morning to be safe. I still should find out somehow if it is checked screwed in or out, There's at least an inch difference... the car has been this way for the past several years. I bought it from a friend that had it 10...What would be the down side, blowing a seal out? It's not spilling out anywhere... [This message has been edited by FX (edited 04-18-2019).]

After you remove the filler plug and drain out the excess oil, check the dipstick level. You'll then know!

The only sure way to know would be to drain it completely and refill with proper amount. Do you know what that is, or should I 'TRY' to find it in thees very confusing manuals, that probably in general, it's an 86 2.8...5 speed Getrag [This message has been edited by FX (edited 04-18-2019).]

I disagree. It probably states in a manual somewhere to fill the transaxle until it starts to come out the filler hole... similar to how rear differentials are filled. Just make sure to be parked on a level surface.
