Did a bunch of searching and could not find a good picture of an answer to my questing.
I have the 96 DOHC and running the throttle cable right now. I find with all the plumbing and fuel lines etc. at the back end, it is getting a bit tight. I have the throttle cable running past the front head and looping over and around by the driver's side lid mount and back to the throttle body. I used the stock 3.4 DOHC throttle holder and adjusted the cable hole to accept the Fiero throttle cable end. I did not adjust the 3.4 throttle cable mount distance from the throttle cam and now, of course, the cable is too long.
So now my question: Is it better to leave the throttle mount as stock on the DOHC and shorten the Fiero throttle cable or have people found it easier to move the mount outward to accommodate the longer Fiero? I suspect adjusting the munt will be easier but also thinking of everything else in the back of the engine and yet more pieces pushing out into space that is already pretty cramped.
Actually, maybe a second question as I type: Is the route I took over to the driver's side and back the best way to route the Fiero cable? Stock goes over to the passenger and over the engine to the throttle body. Maybe a cam system to have the Fiero route over the engine per OEM and the throttle body mechanism adjusted?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I've done several engine swaps and handle the throttle cable length by making a custom bracket. Attaching it to the different throttle bodies can sometimes present a challenge though.. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. "THE COLUSSUS" 87GT - ALL OUT 3.4L Turbocharged engine, Garrett Hybrid Turbo, MSD ign., modified TH125H " ON THE LOOSE WITHOUT THE JUICE "

I had heard that the 4 cly cable didn't need any mods, but that's what I used and had to mod it a little. I had to cut about 2-3 inch's out of the outer cable, the hard plastic part, not the cable itself. I did so b/c I wanted to keep the stock end, the part that fits through the bracket. After removing the outer i split a piece of rubber fuel line or vacuum hose and placed it around the split. Then used about 4-5 of the small "worm gear" hose clamps, two on each side of the split one right in the middle. The hose kept the two parts of the "new" cable together and it worked fine. When done, you will have too much of the inner cable, so you figure out what wide open throttle is, use a throttle cable end (https://www.amazon.com/Throttle-Cable-End-Lug-2003655/dp/B071GRRJYP) and cut off what you don't need. Sorry I don't have pics, its been 7-8 years since I had my DOHC in the car.
