ON A 1986 2.8 " stick shift" Fiero, what TRANS did they come with ? (not a GT) 4 speed ? 5 speed? muncie ? getrag? I have Not Seen the car as of yet, will be delivered tomorrow. Just trying to think WHAT to "Save" from it. (Rusted cradle/back end). Thanks

Most 86 2.8 / manual trans were the 4 speed Muncie. Very good transmission, stronger than the 5 speed Getrag that appeared later in the model year. 3.65 to one final drive. 4th gear is a slight overdrive.[This message has been edited by olejoedad (edited 03-20-2019).]

Look at the trans. Assuming it's the original one... If the shift cables are side by side, from the front/top, it's a 4 speed Muncie. If one cable comes in from the top, and the other comes up from the bottom corner, it's a Getrag.
