In my 85 2m4 i have the 2 slider controls for my heat and fan controls. I do not have ac. I think the sliders are swapped, i slide the one for cold and hot and it directs which vents air comes out. The other slider doesnt move at all, it is stuck all the way left (if it is controling the cold and hot air then its stuck on cold) what could cause this? Broken controls? Would it be screwing with anything making it not go into closed loop?

Could be any of several issues, like an obstruction in the box preventing the door from moving, or a bent or kinked cable. Check the other ends of the cables under the dash, and remove the large cover from the front compartment and check the inside of the heater box.

Someone probably had the control unit out, had to two cables to hook up, figured they had a 50/50 chance of getting it right, got them reversed, and never fixed it.

I tried to take the unit out but once i had all the bolts out i tried pulling and it wouldnt move. Is there something else i have to disconnect somewhere to take it out? I want to see why one of them wont even move and then switch them.

I've heard about these cars, and know they exist, but never seen a Fiero without a/c.

I've never removed the control unit on a non-AC car, maybe someone else can comment?

I have an '85 SE with no air conditioning. My heater slider control also became impossibly stiff. Sometimes I can get it to move, but maybe I just broke it. Anyway, I don't know if that is related to my current problem. Even though it is far left, i.e., no heat, if I put fan on in any position, left, middle (defrost), right, I can feel heat coming out near my feet. It could well be there even w/o the fan, just less obvious. It is as if the heat is on all the time, even though the sliders indicate it is off. It is unbearable in warm weather. Before, putting the fan on w/o heat cooled things a bit. Now it makes it worse. What does anyone suggest? I don't do my own mechanical things, but I have to solve the problems or they'll bill me for re-inventing the wheel....
