My donor engine came from a 98 park avenue ultra, the current filter goes down and away from the belt at like a 45 degree angle. I'm half-sure it will interfere with the front engine mount in some way.
Somebody here advised that the 3800 Grand prix adapters are perfect, All of them? Should i only look for series 2? I have a pretty wide selection at my scrap yard, but i don't wanna waste money/time going back and forth to the yard. Are there any buick cars that come with proper adapters?
Thanks again. Much love for this forum.

Regal fro 97.5 to 2004 has the same adapter as the Grand Prix.

The series II 3800 Monte Carlos and Impalas also had the GP style oil filter adapter, basically the SC and N/A engines from particular cars have the same adapters so none of the Buick's will work or the OLDS or the Bonneville as the H bodies are all the same. ------------------ DARN Cars now open with Over 30 years wiring experience between cars and trade as an avionics technician in both Canadian Air Force and civilian aviation. How confusing. So, i should look for grand prixs, impalas, montes. Later regals yes or no? is there any physical desciptions you have for me? My camaro's 3.8 puts the filter straight forward near the harmonic balancer, is this the type of filter adapter i want?

W body aka GP, Regal, Monte etc... the oil filter adapter goes forward and down so the filter is almost straight down ward, H body tucks back toward side of engine near oil pan which is why it does not clear most mounts, F body goes straight out away from the engine forward and then there is some of the van series I adapters that go up higher then out ward that also fit. Basically yes avoid the H bodies aka Buicks, OLDS, and Bonnevilles. Dan

BTW, made a visit to my scrap yard today, picked up an adapter from a super-late 90's grand prix. Proceeded to transfer my drivetrain over to a fiero cradle, and its a perfect fit. Thanks again fiero flyer!

Anyone have a pic of an F body or a series 1 van oil filter adapter? Manual tranny & FieroRog front engine mount bracket. I have the GP adapter, it works but I'm trying to add a heat sink on the filter, or an oil cooler. Those sandwich adapters will work . It's just everything is so damn tight. The oil cooler I bought won't fit in the wheel well as planned. I'm ready to back up & punt. [This message has been edited by Monstertone (edited 04-19-2020).]

I use this oil filter setup that came off an European spec minivan (Pontiac Transport) with a series 1 3800:

There is no interference with engine mounts or driveshaft. As well, there are oil cooler outlets - perfect for my setup!
Hope this helps?
