Ok, I just recieved my shift and select cable brackets for a FWD Getrag but I dont see just how they bolt onto the transmission. Its from a 92 Beretta.

nope, you just have to count the number of turns of the output shaft while turning the input shaft

it would be around 2.4:1 ((3.32x.73):1)

Steve the parts you have are for a Fiero Getrag, you need the front wheel drive Getrag adaptation parts one of which if I remember correctly is a little tube that adapts to the slave cylinder mount and properly positions the Fiero slave cylinder the correct distanace from the clutch arm. I do however recall a member stating that the Fiero brackets will work with some coercing.

I believe that bracket would mount somewhere in the area the clutch arm access hole.

I didn't see any mention of this so I thought I would throw it out there.

When deciding on a transmission to mount to the 4.9 I had several to choose from. I decided to go with an isuzu. When choosing between the 2 I had available I came accross some differences between years. One was out of an 85 the other was out of an 88. Here are some pics to illustrate the differences I found.

88 on the left, 85 on right

As you can see these differences wont effect mounting or driving in any way. I did notice that the 88 case has extra webbing from strength as well as holes in the bellhousing for venting gasses. The arm is very different between the two as well as the fork. One of the pictures also shows a casting number on the bellhousing. As you can imagine I went with the 88 tranny for the not so obvious differences it had.

Just thought I would throw it out there since this thread is all about the differences in trannies. Any thoughts on this?

EDIT: Pics fixed

interesting...

Thanks to Buddycraigg's post I just found out someone put an '84 4speed in my '86 se.
Now concerning if it has 4.10 gears.
Say the econo had a .73 ratio in 4th gear.
The performance had a .81 in 4th gear.
The 5speeds had a .74 or .72 in 5th gear.
I run about 3500rpm in 4th at 70 mph. (give or take a bit for tire error but not much)
What are the 5speeds out there running rpm wise at 70 mph?
Could this help us discern?
I think I have the 4:10 setup. High rpms on the freeway and the car leaps off the line.

you have a 4.10

the common ones are at 80mph at 3300.
