You need to see that light. Check for power at the ECM connector.

I know this is a dated thread, but I feel I may be in the same boat. I bought an 88 Fiero, and the guy def told me the incorrect battery +/- for this thing (meh) So I momentarily touched the terminals the way he said, and after being 'gifted' with a generous spark - disconnected the lines, waited a day to be able to get out and figure out how to get the car off the ground enough to get under it and trace the lines. And yes, he definitely told me - the incorrect way. [This message has been edited by Aloha (edited 01-24-2024).]

Aloha, welcome to the Forum. Since Division006 never updated or concluded this thread, it is likely that things went badly. In any event, you can send him a Private Message (PM) by clicking the PM button on any one of his postings. If you don't do that it will only be happenstance that he will see your post. Also, you might want to start your own posting in this section to cover your issue in detail.

Right on, thanks man, definitely appreciate the welcome. Yeah it seems I may have picked a basket case, but it's now legally my basket case. So it's get to work time : ) Thanks for the welcome sir - appreciate it.
