The "guts" of the V-power mufflers are all the same. I photo-edited this cutaway to show how it looks as a transverse. No flat surfaces or sharp corners inside, so supposed to be deep tone without drone/resonance. Yup - you can see light right through between the outlets.

Wow that's a different setup internally, I'm curious what it wounds like.

FWIW, I have a Spintech on my SD4 with no cat. I have no complaints on the sound. The engine is loud as heck, but not so much from the exhaust, its the solid lifters and straight cut gears that contribute as much as the muffler to the noise.

Someone posted a video on Facebook of my SD4 engine running at an event last summer. https://www.facebook.com/10...eos/572035449065579/
The muffler is the Jones V4143T V-Power muffler above with catalytic convertor, resonator tips and factory style routing. It is quieter than the Flowtech Afterburner that was on the car before. (umbrella is because wind gusts kept knocking decklid closed)[This message has been edited by fierosound (edited 06-23-2025).]

Any muffler that you can look into the opening and see the other side will be loud. The Flotech afterburner 13" we tested was loud, The Jones Full Bore muffler is exactly that, essentially a straight pipe. Of all of the direct fit (13") mufflers that we tested for engine swaps the Spintech was the quietest but it's not "radio quiet": You can hear the engine exhaust while driving. I've seen engine swaps with the long Magnaflow muffler that are quieter but installation requires cutting the trunk floor out or leaving the exhaust extremely close to the ground. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. I used a Flowmaster Camaro cross flow 3" inlet / dual 2 1/2" outlets. No trunk modification and flush with the bottom of th cradle. I like the sound with my 3800sc.
