Hahah... yes. I had a situation where I was buying shocks for the hatch glass for my 2002 Ford Explorer Sport.

2002 was an odd year, because it was the first year that Ford actually produced two completely separate Ford Explorer vehicles, on two completely different platforms.

The 2002 Ford Explorer Sport was the 2-door Explorer that was built on the previous 2001 Ford Explorer (4-door) chassis, that the Ford Ranger was also built on. In 2002, Ford started producing the next generation of Ford Explorers, which was a much larger and much more advanced 4-door vehicle. For whatever reason, they decided to continue to build the old chassis, and all 2-door Explorers were built on the old chasiss, along with the Sport Trak, and the Ford Ranger, until 2003.

Anyway, the shocks for the rear hatch they sent, were for a 2002 (4-door) / newer Explorer, and not for the Sport, even though they listed it as such. I called them, and the guy at Rock Auto actually yelled at me and told me I was completely wrong. I had to explain to him that they built two different cars that year, and their listing for it being for the 2002 Sport was totally incorrect.

He finally did a search on the internet for the different models and was like... you're right, and then almost mad at me for him getting mad at me, which was wierd... like, "you made me do this!" haha... I got my refund.

With Rock Auto, I have to know exactly what I want, and exactly what the part looks like. Even still, they list an oil pressure sensor for all year Fieros, and it's not actually a sensor but a yes / no, oil pressure is good kind of thing... doesn't help the gauge at all.

They are definitely NOT overkill on a modded 3800SC or turbo swapped application.

If you were watching A/F ratio, were you also watching K/R and timing advance to see if the PCM was pulling timing? A properly sized fuel pump and air intake system can really affect K/R and timing retard. You won't see that by just monitoring A/F ratio on a wideband gage.....

For a 2.8, yeah, they are overkill.

Have always used HP Tuners scanning / editing software. It graphs all PCM parameters RPM's MAP, O2 sensor, CTS readings, KR's even transmission performance. You can program a graph to compare all parameters like MAP, Vs RPM and show KR's at ever operational point. Same with O2 readings, You can save and print out all the charts at any time.
HP Tuners is the program that professional racers and many tuners use.
On the fuel pump the Bosch unit keeps up all the way to the max of 11 psi of boost. It uses a parallel wiring circuit ( two feed lines and two relays) to keep pressure constant , If the amperage requirement goes up under load its taken care of..
