yeah. it's wasn't my car at the time so I wasn't there to call him and the technician an idiot. I've retightened the bolt since but I'm also suprised the technician didn't notice the complete lack of rear sway bar bushings at the time.

I gotta ask. What was it in for? Is it yours now?

not mine anymore. just fell out of love with it and sold it to a friend who I've been fixing the issues for.
4-wheel alignment with an idiot who didn't know what he was doing. I actually went and looked at the car and every damn bolt was loose but the actual strut pinch bolts that you are SUPPOSED to use to adjust chamber. so I handed them a torque wrench and the specs that should take care of it.
also the bs I was saying about understeer and bumpsteer was from a few reviews of the fiero when new. I didn't trust my judgment with my worn out ones handling since clearly its completely effed.

I'm pretty sure I've read nearly every review written in major publications about the Fiero and I've never seen anything like what you stated.

You must be confusing some reviews or something.
And .... a lot of people talk about it more like a cool key word than an actual understanding of it.

no just looking at all the negative reviews to get both sides of the story. I love my gt but at the same time people absolutely despise how it looks and the slight change in handling from the weight shift and aerodynamics change
(I was one but I tend to buy a really cheap garbage version of cars I like to see if repairing and restoring a basket case makes me fall in love more or give up and the gt has grown on me quite a bit since at higher speeds with the factory handling package it tends to suck itself to the ground)
just trying not to be a fiero try hard at this point despite knowing someone with "the Pegasus" and another who owns one of the few of special built Northstar Gts from somewhere in the Midwest..

back on topic anyhow i did do some tests and the posters likely issue is bushings and shocks /struts but hands on diagnosis is required based on how the formula behaves with those parts being bad

I think one would have trouble finding anything negative written about the 88 chassis. Everybody has "styling" opinions but that has nothing to do with chassis design. As I understand it, you sold your 88?

phils88GT is doing the right thing. He had a lot of worn and or damaged parts and he is replacing them. When completed and properly aligned his 88 will run circles around any stock early Fiero. I will always stress how important alignment is.

This is a thread from the archives that I started long ago. There may be some dangling questions in it so feel free to ask.

I take that back. An 88 won't run circles around an 86. On a smooth flat skid pad, both cars could do equal times. Both cars could run together on a track like Indy or Daytona. It would be a mater of who has the best tires. On a skid pad with some miner undulations, we might see some difference in time depending on the drivers ability to "feather" the chassis. On a road course, especially of one made up of real roads, where suspension components have to move up and down, the 86 driver would have to work much harder to match the 88 drivers time. Simply because the 88 is much easier to drive. After a few laps, with hot brakes, the 88 can continue to use the same break point while the 86 needs more and more room.

88 Fiero chassis are rare. I did a quick look for a number left in existence and found nothing. Has anybody seen that number?

I think those of us who own one should consider ourselves guardians of an endangered vintage sports car chassis.
