IF you upgrade to the Delco CS130 alternator; look for a used '88 alternator heat shield which it is mounted on the head cylinder and covers the exhaust manifold.

Look @ side plug. 12SI plug only take 2 wires & nothing but only grease/oil if lucky to keep "water" out of it. CS130 have space to take 4 wires in "water proof" plug.
