HAH! Damn!!! That's crazy, I've never seen anything like that on a Duke.
At least it happened on the right side. What transmission is that? Is that a manual or an automatic?
I have a bell-housing for a 5-Speed if you need / want it.

it's an automatic but I'm not worried about it honestly. it was the thinnest part of the bell housing so it's fine. engine should be running within a few days and we will see if this trans works. if not I have a 4 speed manual but I'm not sure what differences there are between an auto and manual harness. I did grab a manual ecm though

I have a GX3 / 3.33:1 3-Speed Th-125C that ran perfect when I put it in storage 13 years ago... but not sure if it's worth it for you to pay the shipping for that when you could probably just get a good 4T40 and have a 4-Speed. But if you want it, let me know... it'll be a month or two before I can get it out of storage.

might be interested later if the 4 speed sport trans doesn't go in later. looking like it might not without a custom turbo HD Iron duke that's in the works

new engine installed (iron duke with flat tappet lifters) and it won't start fought timing because it kept being weird and wouldn't start so I got it right? it just makes gunshots out of the exhaust so I'm probably gonna pull the valve cover off to see if my intake and exhaust valves are opening or if I got a wiped cam in this 100 dollar motor. I think it might be cam since my number one cylinder never really makes pressure but I won't know for sure until tomorrow

cam is fine and valves are moving and sealing. so I'm not sure what the actual issue is now. guess I'll set timing again and replace the spark control module with a different one

Yeah, that definitely sounds like timing. I'm assuming the dots are lined up on the cam and crank gear?
Have you checked the firing order too?

firing order is correct but I'm not sure if the cam gear is since this is a 100 dollar used 1984 motor, I'll probably have to verify exactly where top dead center is with the valve cover off even though it seems right

You can check by removing the spark plug of the cyl you're looking at and wait until the piston gets all the way to the top and stops before going back down again.
