With a lot of Fieros... that's an empty tank! Seriously.

When I changed the fuel filter I didn’t know what to expect as far as how much fuel would come out, not much did, but I thought maybe it’s a back pressure thing, idk. I believe the fuel gage is a little above an 1/8th of a tank. I’ll add some more fuel to be safe and I’ll check the valve tomorrow. Thanks for your advice.

So I read a few other post while trying to figure out more about the fuel pump circuit and one of the post refer to the ecm and to make sure the SES light lights up when the ignition is on. I tilted the steering wheel down so I could get a better view of the instrument lights and there was a dinging sound. If I move the steering up, it stops. When I tried to start it, it sounded like it got some fuel made it to the carb, so I turn the ignition off and on to prime it and it started.

So... the problem all along was simply a low/empty gas tank?

I did add a couple more gallons of gas, but now the fuel gage indicates I have just under a half a tank- maybe a faulty fuel gage?

Could be the gauge, could be the sender. There are plenty of threads here covering how to check/repair both.
Don't feel too bad about getting fooled by an incorrect fuel level reading. I've owned Fieros for 25 years... and I ran out of gas while driving my Formula a few months ago. lol
