What is the actual effect of the s10 brake booster mod on pedal feel? My friends miata brake pedal feels like pressing on a solid block of rubber, which to me is more desirable then the stock squishy feeling. [This message has been edited by Xenoblast (edited 05-15-2022).]

The effect is to provide more braking action with less pedal effort. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. It shouldn't be squishy if everything is in good repair, adjustment and properly bled.

How much extra clamping force does the S-10 booster provide over the OEM Fiero? [This message has been edited by olejoedad (edited 05-16-2022).]

Its about as squishy or less then the other cars at my house so I dont think its because its not bled, but just how the brakes are.

Does this mean the pedal will be less stiff?

Less effort to work the brakes, so yes it could be described as less stiff.

That may be a valid point but any older car with power brakes will lock the wheels if you hit the pedal hard. They didn't have anti-lock brakes until the 90's. I know when I come off the highway at 80 or 90 mph and hit the exit ramp, IMO, the extra brake boost is beneficial. Read all the topics on Upgrading the Booster and the Fabricated Units that used to be available from this forum. My research looking into the basic S-10 replacement has me confused. No one mentions which booster to purchase Year/size. I see that the Fiero OEM is 8.77" dia and the S-10 Blazer has a 9.115 & 10.915 and the Tuff 2232 is 11".
I have the original calipers and replacement discs. Have no plans to Auto-cross or 1/4 mile.
SO..... what is the answer? I see the question has been asked before and no answer was provided then....
So I asked again S-10 Make, Model, Year, & Size. Reman #........... Cardone #............ (RockAuto)
Thanks

Thanks to FIEROGT88:
The s10 has come with quite a few different boosters over the years. The one in the fiero and the bigger one used by Phil in this upgrade look to me like double diaphragm boosters. There are smaller boosters and even single diaphragm boosters used in the s10s at different points in time. You definately want a bigger double diaphragm booster for best effect, and a smaller single diaphragm booster or single diaphragm booster (apparently from the earlier years) could be a brake downgrade
Phil used a 97 - S10 Booster
The 96 - 97 S-10 4.3L is about 10.4" dia. The Fiero is about 8 .77" dia.
The new booster was Cardone P/N A1 547-1061
