Bad IAC? (Page 3/3)

My gauge doesn't have the correct size adapter for the fuel test port, so I borrowed the loaner from Autozone which I have already returned. I will check again.

I checked voltage at the middle wire of the connector against ground. It seemed to vary linearly from .5V to 4.5V.

From what I understand, a "dead" spot (if one occurs) is (edit to add) usually just off idle.

Would this cause my idle issue though? It is possible... likely... that I have more than one fault.

I was more addressing the following... but sure, if there was a dead spot at the TPS idle position, the idle could be compromised.

Today, it threw a code 32 while I was driving. I thought I had eliminated the EGR, but could this be my issue?

What do mean "eliminated"? You reported the following...

Seems to me the solenoid isn't working, which would set a code 32. Do I think this is causing your issues? Not likely.... but if it's being caused by a vacuum leak, find and fix it.

From Here...

Code 32 - EGR Vacuum Control

Code 32 is by far the most commonly encountered trouble code. The most common cause for this trouble code is a leak in the EGR vacuum lines. This code is often disregarded since a malfunctioning EGR system seldomly has any effect on the car's driveability, and only on the engine's emissions. It's also tremendously difficult to diagnose the problem. If your car passes emission tests and is otherwise running ok, it's often not worth the trouble trying to find the problem.

I took the car for a drive today, and the clutch has started slipping. I've spent too much time trying to nurse this engine back to health when I already have a 3800sc engine for it. I appreciate the assistance, but I'm shelving another project to just put the 3800 in this car now.
