Tack welding it down works better. With as many swaps as we have done, and as many crossmembers as we have modified or replaced, welding is SOP in our shop. Its not a project to take a chance on messing up.

Checked the only STS they had on site (a 2003) and no oil cooler or cooler line equipped oil filter adapter. There's an 06 DTS without towing package there as of today but I didn't check it for one. Doubtful anyway.

In the aerospace industry, "better" is the enemy of "good enough"... gilding the lily is a good way to drive up cost and delay delivery.[This message has been edited by Will (edited 10-31-2019).]

In the swap business, a slipped clamp when modifying a cradle drives up costs and creates an inferior product. Clamping down is not as secure as tacking the cradle to a flat metal surface. But, if it's good enough for you, fine. Its not good enough for my product.

Thank you guys for your input, I will be attempting this over winter and I will see how it goes.
On another side note I’ve been trying to figure out this n* vin thing for awhile, and I cannot decode this thing. If im not mistaken, the vin is on a little plate on the bottom of the engine right by the seam and it’s a machined on number.
The thing is that I’ve looked at all sorts of decoding things and none of them decode this *6RU234883 I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or am I just looking in the wrong place?

It is a partial VIN - the last 6 digits are the sequence number for the automobile it came out of.
