ugh. i left my engine air filter in the trunk for 3 days and since i worked on it in the rain last and the filter got damp its covered in mold. thats air filter number 4 ive ruined so far. can i just spray it out with brake clean or something? for until i get the engine to idle on its own and verify that it can infact move in gear and then ill buy a new one that isnt paper

And from that you deduce that the ECU "has an issue"? Have you ever looked at This page?

Patrick. when its trying to flash twice and flashes so ridiculously fast it took a camera to see it then theres an issue right? and it set an engine light and wont ever get to flash that and yes i did look at that page before i posted this. im mostly wondering since I know that code is related to how awful it responds to throttle and the fact that the TPS has little to no effect on the engine at all

We can debate how fast is fast... but flashing 12 is supposed to indicate that the ECU is functioning properly. There's obviously something funky going on with that engine, but I suspect it's not an ECU issue.

if you watch the video i linked its seeming like ecu but thats also because i unplugged every sensor except the icm and it still didnt change. its ignoring every sensor and the check engine light is ON but it will not report an actual code. even ones i know it should be setting

my assumption the ecm is trash may be true. the snap on red brick that can talk to any year gm between 1980 and 1995 wont talk to it. it keeps throwing a communication mismatch and i didnt trust the ecm at all so i guess ill be digging for a spare

this is the same with or without the og ecm. with a spare from a 2.8l s10 pickup from the same year and the prom from the fiero it just constantly flashes nonstop but runs anyways? https://youtube.com/shorts/...?si=BCnkQFbKUFVHBIMO this isnt normal behavior and when i got the code scanner to talk to the ecm for about 10 seconds it was throwing a few codes it shouldnt be able to throw at the same time like code 14 and 15
