Dip Stick Accuracy (Page 2/2)

When I did the engine rebuild on my 3.1 (similar to 2.8 except for 8 mm longer stroke, so connecting rods come 4 mm closer to the oil surface) using a Fiero 2.8 dipstick, the stock Fiero oil levels seemed to make sense to me.

I made a cardboard mockup to simulate the bottom surface of the oil pan.

If the oil level is too high, then I think that this will create extra drag on the rotating assembly.

Can confirm 84s got a new dipstick as part of a recall.

The V6 had two different oil filters when I looked in the application books at the parts stores back in the day when they still had our cars. I believe the 87-88s had the shorter filter and the 85-86 had the longer filters. I always have used the long filter in my 88. I think the Fram # is 3580 if I remember right.
