Awesome! Be sure to let us know how it goes. I like those UX1 radios.

Update

Kevin got my radio last Friday {Aug 15th} and when I asked today 'how long is the line', he reported about a week to 10 days before he will get my unit on the bench.

No response for Joe when I asked about his new address...

Well, I got my unit back from Wags...
I'm a little disappointed with the communication or 'lack' of communication.
I normally get a 'report' of the parts/labor/costs/etc. for the service.
Also, my request included a few items which I found after the fact didn't happen, which was like 'pulling teeth'...
I only got a 'grand total' including shipping at $250

*On the upside: Kevin always responds normally in the same day AND I have no doubt that the unit will function nicely...

Still No Response for Joe
And no word from Fiero Tom - I believe that this era is gone...

Like Porky Pig says in the end: "That's All Folks!"

What all did they need to do to your deck? I assume rebuilt the cassette deck, but anything else?

My ‘restoration’ request was replacing all of the aged ‘general purpose’ electrolytic capacitors with premium audio caps and the cassette drive belt; checking the resistors and transistors; replace internal lamps, plus a deep cleaning checklist and all the mechanisms are lubed.

In the cassette deck, he replaced the rubber pinch rollers and the belt, then aligned tape head azimuth.
In the amplifier section, he replaced five capacitors.

I like that radio because it's basically one of the higher-end ones offered in the Fiero. Was your goal to keep it completely stock? I was curious if you were thinking about adding an auxiliary jack or blue tooth.

For my daughter's car, we ended up going with one of the slightly newer radios. It's still ... mostly ... period correct. It came on 1989 Pontiacs, and still has the same knobs as you, but looks a little different. I can't remember if this style of radio ever made it to the 1988 year. I know 1988s got slightly newer radio designs... but she was looking for something that had some "features," but still looked like it belonged.

We got ours from M&R off eBay. I've bought a few radios from M&R over the past 2 decades and liked them... but like you, the responses I get are like Chat GPT with the politeness setting turned off. Haha...

Picture isn't great... I apologize. I was using an older Canon and had to set the ISO really high while increasing the shutter speed all while holding it completely still so it didn't blur... just so I could capture the red lighting. But this is what she installed. M&R had an auxilary jack as a separate cable, which she mounted in the center console.

But like you, I really prefer these older factory radios. They are just as good (in my opinion), and keep the car looking original.

Yes, I have been keeping my GT as 'stock' as possible.

No, I’m not interested in Bluetooth technology nor an aux input upgrade as I don’t enjoy listening to compressed audio sources.
