Making any of the brake lights brighter is a worthwhile endeavor... but it's probably of little benefit against tailgaters. They're simply too close to stop in time in an emergency situation, no matter how well they see and react to brake lights in front of their vehicle.

I usually try for 3 seconds. I can't believe how many idiots are on the roads nowadays. Cars running bumper to bumper at 80 mph.
Maybe NASCAR shouldn't be televised ....🤔

I tell ya Joe the highways out this way can be scary. I follow the one car length for each 10 mph rule. An accident by following too close won't end well. I told my neighbor about my recent adventure and he said "I never tailgate on the highway , I follow at least a full car length behind" . ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. I count very slowly. Honestly, it probably is more like three seconds. I have no interest in banging up the front of my car(s).

Very worthwhile mod. Drastic improvement in visibility and not hard to do. When you remove the housing and clip out the old halogen bulb you are left with the stubs of two tabs. You can easily attach your LED wires to them by using a crimp on wire connector. Some say that you can solder to those tabs but soldering did not take when I did it. While you are at it you can buy direct fit LED lights for the taillights that also make a difference.------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. Another 'Bright' Idea: Add a Brake Light Blinker on the high mount unit as an "Alert" The blinker unit will have a few 'flashes', then it will go solid Some units have only one mode, others can be adjusted------------------ Original Owner of a Silver '88 GT Under 'Production Refurbishment' @ 136k Miles

I added that to my Indy when I installed an LED strip in the wing. (the '84s didn't have a center 3rd brake light) https://www.fiero.nl/forum/...HTML/000078.html#p36
