Say more; 'why' they're not 'working'?
Did you bleed the lines, and you have a 'problem'?[This message has been edited by Vintage-Nut (edited 03-15-2025).]

What i know so far is that the wheels can move semi freely,
When the brake petel is depressed the brakes do not apply more or less after it is relesed.
The calipers have surface rust ( from what i have seen so far ) witch do not let them relese form the rotor.
When i blead the breaks and manualy tried to move the brake pads to put more force on the rotor and vise versa the pisoton would only push the brake pads onto the rotor, and not pull back when it should.
that is so far what i know.

I bet your sliders are 'dry'...
IF the piston WILL move WITHOUT pads; grease the sliders.
Do you have the 1988 Pontiac Fiero Service Manual?

The piston still moves, but it only moves forward whn i manualy do it with my hands.
Not with the brake pedel, so i am a bit confused.
do you think it is worth my time to take the caliper apert and rebuild it?
or it there an easy fix to this problem, if it is the caliper at all?
9 I do have servus manuels for the 88 and 87[This message has been edited by the_snowman (edited 03-15-2025).]

Remove the master cylinder, bleed the master cylinder on the bench to verify IF the master cylinder will push fluid from both ports....
IF NO; get a new master cylinder and bleed it on the bench BEFORE installing it.
See "bleed a brake master cylinder on the bench" on the internet

You're welcome...
When you have a working master cylinder on the bench and ALL the air purged, install it WITHOUT getting any air inside....
Before installing the working master cylinder; clean the calipers and grease the sliders
Also read in the manual 'how' to rotate the pistons into the calipers before installing the pads[This message has been edited by Vintage-Nut (edited 03-15-2025).]
