Here in BC, after many years of emission testing of all vehicles, it was determined that there were so relatively few older "polluting" cars still on our roads, that the high cost of running the emission testing program was no longer justified. So although I'm all for clean air, I fully supported the BC government's decision on this.

Same in NJ; no inspection is required on cars 25 yrs and older. Just don't have a loud exhaust that will wake up the dead. Most of the older classic cars are classified as historic and they don't get driven very often. The only time that I see these older cars is at cruise nights, car shows. NJ inspection on newer vehicles just requires a look at your OBDII readings No trouble codes and you pass

In Florida... no inspections, anywhere, ever... for anything... whether the car is a year old, or 100 years old. You can put whatever you want in it...

Missouri has no emissions after 28 years... Which is a weird number, but makes classic cars easier to get legal. Still have to get a safety inspection in Saint Louis but I've heard it depends on the county.
