only way to do this without headache is to swap the interior harness with an 85 and up to match the engine harness. It may seem like a lot of work, but it is the easiest way. Been, there, did that. Interior harnesses should be easily and cheaply come by if you was local, Id give you one, there is no demand for them, just saying[This message has been edited by jelly2m8 (edited 08-25-2024).]

was gonna pull one but it's kind of a bear to remove them. also an 84 harness is standalone minus gauges so it's the best for a potential v8 or carb swap

Quick question, how is that different from the other years? I thought all Fieros had gauges that were analog and fed directly off sensors (and not the ECM). Or did you mean something else?

they are but it's getting a corvette gauge swap soon. and what I really meant is that this interior unlike later years has a single 12volt input meaning I don't need the c500 installed or anything (actually did this when i first got the car so i could test things in the interior) so a good swap candidate for something like a carburated 2.5 duratec (weber 45s of course) or something a little cooler like a fwd lq1 turbo swap with a blow through carb. but it looks like I'll need a later decklid before I do any engine swap since I got it on with hinges for the first time and I hate this 84 decklid. no room for anything and the special vent is broken and just fits bad. I also did not manage to get the 2nd torsion spring on and gave up. I do have one correct and 2 incorrect ones (one white, one red and a blue) so currently the red is installed with the lowest tension until I can get the next weakest spring installed

Please be aware that there are significant wiring differences between the 84 and later C500 connectors on both the drivetrain and taillight circuits.
Get yourself a couple of FSM, and be aware there are a few mistakes in those as well.

I have the manual for the 84 since no one really knows much about them. also it's all been pretty self explanatory on it unlike the later wiring that's a complete nightmare to trace. also if I'm doing the swap I'm likely keeping tbi or a newer fuel injection (holley sniper or something similar) which just means gauges and power
