I get 9L / 100km (26mpg) with my ‘86 2.8L GT (106,000 miles). The engine is bone stock.

When I first purchased my 85 SE V6 4speed Fiero, she would get 22 around town and 28 on the highway.....In 1999 I swapped in a Getrag 5 speed and 3.4 F-Body long-block....then I would get 20 around town and 31 on the highway.
I would like to see a Fiero with a 3.9 w/cylinder-deact tested...around town maybe 20- but on the highway I bet you could get up near 40....And the car would be really quick with 240/240.....

We did a trip from Calgary to Red Deer and return for a small Fiero meet. That's about 145 kms (90 miles) each way at speeds averaging 110 kph (70 mph) on cruise.
The 3.3L SD4 in the Indy seems terrible on gas in the city. The fuel gauge needle seems to have moved every time you look down at it. Keep in mind, the 84 has a small tank and you can't avoid "stepping on it" with the SD4.
Anyway, after the round trip and a refill I got 30 mpg (36 mpg Imperial) with the SD4 Indy This was the longest drive I'd taken it on with the new MPFI system I built at the time.
My GT with the 3.4 V6 Vortech S/C got 26 mpg (30 mpg Imperial) on the same trip.
