i dont have the original {PCV} fitting / i can't seem to find that fitting anywhere online though.

The original rubber elbow on the V6 rear valve cover was removed by the GM Campaign 88-C-24 {a.k.a. '90 Recall}

This is a photo of the GM Recall PCV Rubber Fitting

And yes, finding a replacement will be difficult....

Ummm... I think there may be some misunderstanding here. The recall involved the front valve cover, not the valve cover by the trunk.

That PCV elbow you've indicated with an arrow on the rear valve cover has never been changed in any recall.

Here's an image of a pre-recall V6 (easily identified by the bizarre looking original rubber intake snorkel). That PCV elbow on the rear valve cover remains the same on all the V6's that have had the recall done.

If you can't find it, you might be better off just upgrading to the CS130 alternator. There's a few writeups on here if you search, about upgrading. It's pretty simple, and it's a WAY more reliable alternator. It has built in cooling both front and back (if I'm not mistaken... someone correct me if I'm wrong).

If you can't find it, I'll search for it and post it here, but it's Thursday morning at 6:56, and man... I'm just not feeling it... haha...

Was there any logic to that design? Not to go off topic, I'm just curious why they designed it like that. Did it have something to do with attempting to prevent water from pouring in there or something?

Even with the cs130, you should keep the heat shield, it doesn't fit on though unless you drill the mounting hole in a different spot.

Good to know. I intend to swap out the alternator in my own V6 Fiero... if I ever get that car out of storage and in this garage... sigh.

A few parts that might help:

New valve cover grommet: https://www.amazon.com/Dorm...ommet/dp/B000C5E4SC/
New (not exact) elbow / tube replacement: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00S0GEWK0/

You're correct - I admit my mistake and apologize!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried to find the part in the P-Book and finally found it.

This rubber 'double elbow' fitting on the V6 PCV was included in the vacuum line assembly and not sold as a separate part.
{Harness, exhaust gas recirculation valve vacuum, GM 10040419}

One solution to replace the original missing part is:
With a new PCV in hand {ACDelco CV892C}
Visit local auto stores to get an elbow which will fit on the valve AND will fit on an OD .375 tube {PCV vacuum line}
Then get an elbow which will fit on the PCV vacuum line {OD .375-inch}

If you 'saved' the old plastic tube when you installed the stainless-steel vacuum lines; use a short piece to connect the two elbow or perhaps cut the elbows to make the assembly shorter....

Good Luck!

May need more then that to have enough air flow for internal fan & back case that's the heatsink for the reg & diodes.

Do not assume the shield works w/ 12SI just works w/ CS130 w/ added mounting hole.

IMO, there was no logic whatsoever. It was just weird! The factory air/water separator is/was always located just inside the rear fender.

No need for an apology! I just didn't want any confusion regarding the recall to arise from this.
