Just wondering. Have you actually done one for yourself? What do you charge for your time?

I've re-wired several cars in the past, so that would be a cakewalk. But to be honest, this is not a hard problem... and you can definitely do this yourself. If you're not comfortable tearing up yours... there's several existing harnesses on eBay (even right now) that you could buy and then lay it out on a big table (or garage floor) and replicate it.

I don't want to be tacky... but my time is really valuable to me. What I make in my day job would effectively make it not worth it for anyone to ask me to do anything. I end up volunteering for a lot of things, and I just can't take on side projects.

But man, if you have a soldering iron, and you watch a couple of YouTube videos, you can absolutely do this... it is NOT hard. I'd recommend getting a pre-made harness, and then if you want to maintain the wiring layout, you can tape up the wiring bunches in the same combinations as the factory wiring (and then add things such as a knock sensor, etc.). I'd personaly try to keep the factory firewall connector (I think it's called the C500, or C200, I can't remember... someone correct me), and then beyond that, you can just cut a harness end off a junkyard car, and either replace the pins and use it directly, or solder the wires directly to each one.

Hi

I'm sure I could do it but at 71, my time has become far more valuable than it used to be. Yes, I would do it to an "extra" harness but they are very rare for some reason. There was one yesterday on eBay at $210. I keep thinking about the opportunities the Fiero market offers young entrepreneurs. My equal length header system is still in a CAD model. I could do that too but .... I did design and build suspension upgrades for both the 88 and early Fiero's but marketing the kind of stuff that is not DOT certified requires a lot of "red Tape". Yeah, I'm a car guy from way back and have done several complete restorations. Now it's time to rest and let the young guys do the grunt work.

Yeah man, I'm in my mid 40s... I'm younger, but definitely don't have the time I had 20 years ago.

Believe me, you are still a puppy!

So ... wadaya do for your mid life crises when you've been driving red sportscars since you got your license? Answer: You paint your Pontiac yellow!
