When I replaced my fronts (86 GT auto), I switched to using 215/60R15 at all 4 wheels, and I've stuck to that ever since. I find it to be a nuisance having different sizes when the sizes are barely different anyway. I'd rather be able to get all tires from the same source and to rotate them freely to any corner. These cars were tuned to push from factory so I don't think such a small increase of the front grip is going to hurt, if it's even appreciable at all. I made that change years ago and it handles fine. The experiences I've had when I push the car hard enough is that the balance is still toward understeer.
Last time I bought tires it looked like everything advertises high treadlife and rain, neither of which are priorities for this car IMO. For grip, I'd take more interest in tires with a softer compound. Like you I avoid rain (because I don't want to encourage rust), but if I am caught in the rain I just take it easy. As much to avoid drenching the undercarriage and frame rails as to avoid sliding.
The tires I've been using are Falken ZE912, but those are discontinued. Last time I bought them there was still an "Uhtso" branded version available through one vendor (Discount Tire I think?), but that got discontinued also. I recall there was a newer Falken tire that replaced the 912, but it seemed to focus more on rain grip, and I think there might have been an issue with available sizes. It's been a while since I looked at it. So I don't know what I'll be buying next time. But if you care most about grip, I'd filter out tires that are claiming the highest treadlife, because that implies it's a hard compound.
It's hard to cut through the BS and figure out what traits a tire is *actually* optimized for, so you can figure out how it lines up with your own priorities. The advertising always tries to claim the tire is magical and good at everything at the same time.

Of course, that then rules out unidirectional tires as well.
I have the same size tires on all four corners of my Subie, and it ticks me off that I can't rotate the tires/wheels to the opposite side of the car.

pretty much anything modern will be far, far better than those terrible BF Goodrich radial TA's
I'd use Champion Spark plugs, a Fram filter before I put BF TA's on any of my cars. That is a Big statement.[This message has been edited by jelly2m8 (edited 08-31-2024).]

Off Subject, I will Suggest as I am a huge Subaru fan, give the General Altimax RT43 tires a try. Best All Season compared to a dedicated snow tire on a Subi. I have Dedicated snow tires and rims for my 3.0R outback, currently running Continental as my Summer tire, tried it last winter... Over all that General is a solid all around tire with great tire wear. those you can rotate properly. When these Continentals wear out, I'm going back to the cheaper Generals.[This message has been edited by jelly2m8 (edited 08-31-2024).]

True. The tires I've been using are "asymmetric" but not directional. Meaning they have an inside and an outside, but they can turn either direction. So they have to be mounted the right way but once that's done, they can be used anywhere.
