Rebuilt slave now clutch is slipping (Page 2/2)

If you opened the bleeder and it squirted then something upstream from that is causing the problem. There should be no pressure when the pedal is released. sleek

And the clutch was then fully released... right?

No-one was pushing the clutch peddle- and it was fully up....

Two things I noticed when I removed the slave; A) Fluid did run out of the slave's "in" hole, and B) Not a lot of fluid came out of the line when I disconnected it from the slave....So the problem would seem to be either in the line or the master cylinder.....

I don't care about the pedal anymore. When you opened the slave's bleeder valve (to release the pressure), was the clutch itself then able to fully engage? I suspect it was able to.

I actually had un-did the slave from its bracket when I loosened the bleeder- but the Clutch arm moved back substantially when I unscrewed the slave nuts ...

I have heard of people somehow getting the slave mounting studs installed on the engine side of the bracket. Is this your situation? They should be pointing toward the driver's side of the car and not toward the engine.

The Slave bolt setup is stock...I had no problems for 20 years- then the slave failed....rebuilt it and started driving it and realized the clutch was slipping- now it is obvious that something is keeping the slave extended...just disassembled the slave and no possibility of anything wrong with it- now have to check the line and the master. By the way, the master cylinder has emptied itself via clutch use- so apparently fluid is not returning upon clutch peddle release.

Any suggestions on how to "Blow-out" the line?

I would take the rubber section off first and check it.. More than likely one of the lines is disintegrating and partially plugging the line and acting like a check valve. I had a brake line do this and it would lock the wheel up. sleek
